Geoff's award

IN THE RESTORATION BUSINESS

All his life our brother Geoffrey Ellis has been associated with those who are proud of their Restoration Movement Heritage. For many of these years Geoff has been actively engaged in researching, writing and proclaiming the values of the past as they applied to the future for each of us.

Geoff has been involved with the Canadian Churches of Christ Historical Society or CCCHS since its inception, spending several years as president of the board.

His life and work point to an indefatigable purpose-driven pursuit of truth. This shows up in his historical research, his writings and his presentations.

At the Annual Meeting of CCCHS, held in Toronto, on August 16, Geoff received the “Historian of the Year” for 2013/14. The board was unanimous in choosing Geoffrey Ellis for this well-deserved honor.

For the board of directors,

George Mansfield

The 15ths Annual General Meeting of the Canadian Churches of Christ Society was held today at the Bayview Church of Christ site in Toronto. Shelley Jacobs was our featured presenter and her topic was PACIFISM IN GENERAL AND SPECIFICALLY WITHIN CHURCHES OF CHRIST. Also, Ed Broadus brought us new information on the beginning of the Restoration Movement in Toronto and Geoff Ellis helped us come to a better understanding of what is in our archives, how it got there, who did the work and what is needed to maintain and grow it. It was a marvelous day for all. We thank the Bayview church for hosting us this day.

Shelly Jacobs, a first rate researcher in the field of Church History, was the featured speaker at our August 16th Annual Meeting. While we do not have copies of her specific presentation for that day, the link given will take you to much of the same material.
